 My experience of  QIFF 2919:  the atmosphere was good in spite of the strong winds last Saturday -  the lively shows  , jazz concerts / rock concerts / Indian dancers really made my day . The food we tried was so-so .
We had some so called Mexican dish  -  chicken  quesadilla -  it  tasted like some canned chicken filled into a simple Indian paratha .  That restaurant offered huge sombreros  and  all the decors made us believe they were authentic but they were not .
 Then we had some sushi from a hotel's stall . It was not bad but  not so good either . Then a chicken wrap . Just OK . Turkish roasted chestnut - not soft enough .
 Camel burger ? I was not brave enough to try .
 In front of some stalls there were long lines - Qataris waiting with patience for their favorite  caffeinated  drinks  .
 The VIP booths were almost empty .
 The student center was really near to us and we found better dishes there than at the festival .
  Yeah , these students at Education City are really   pampered  by the best restaurants .
 I think there were better days  and better festivals than this . The ones at MIA park  were the most memorable ones to me .

Still I recommend visiting the festival .  The  entertainment is excellent and free .  The selection  of food is huge . I might have had bad luck when choosing my dishes .  I do not have patience to wait in long lines ,  I admit  .

   Sand dunes giving out strange noises . This has been reported for centuries .  Some  dunes are quaking, whistling, booming, roaring and rumbling . It depends on the place you visit around the world . In Qatar this is a low frequency humming .

   Humming sand dunes can be found  here : N25 02'29.7" E51 24'38.9"

   Expect to hear it when you are walking on it .  It is still a mystery  why exactly  this sound comes .
 Be part of it ! Visit them before the hot season arrives ! Choose a clear  and calm week day .  It is always fun to climb  . Sand dunes can be  a real challenge as at every step one's foot is sinking ten centimeters .

Join  this eco-adventure, led by desert ecologist Dr. Aspa D. Chatziefthimiou. During the tour  you will explore the dune fields in the southern part of Qatar, we will track for wildlife and discuss dune formations and their ecology. You will also have lunch on site.

Further details on this eco-adventure will be sent on Tuesday the 26th of February, ONLY to those who register.

They were reorganizing the TV channels in Qatar and for some months I had no other option than listening to Hindi pop or watching Hindi serials . I was expecting at that time when this song was a great hit . So  it brings back nice memories . Besides they are a nice couple .

MIA Park Bazaar reopens on 18 January 2019

Good news for everyone who likes the park bazaar - it will be open again on the weekends until mid- April .
I come here for the relaxed atmosphere - home made dishes - art and craft - second hand books and more .
It is closed during the hot season but reopens usually in mid - October . Last October it was very rainy so it did not open . In spite of November weather being nice here the Bazaar did not reopen .No explanations . It is fine to hear that it comes back to the city .

Pastel Drawing Art Lesson at the Pearl

Weekly art lessons in Artist Café. The lessons are usually for children. But during these festive days adults also can participate.

On December 29th they will draw an amazing deer on the mountain top - using soft pastel.

Very little children will be offered an easy option to draw.
 Work usually in small groups - number of seats limited.

 It is right behind the Student Center , Education City  at lower level .
 There are some tracks to run and inviting green field . I would not call it park in Hungary . A sport field rather . And where the name Oxygen comes from ? I think during the hot season  there is some condensed drops of cold water sprayed at the edge of the track . This way it feels cooler . Education city is a district of universities in Qatar - it has nice overall atmosphere but it needs clearly more trees .

   Meanwhile in Argentina  people  were standing in long lines yesterday for they can see  and hear  Tawakkol Karman ,  the Nobel prize winning  human right activist .
  The event took place in Rosário , a major port city in Argentina, 300 km up the Paraná River from  the  capital, Buenos Aires.

 The Mayor Monica Fein welcomed the distinguished visitor and expressed her  appreciation for the struggle of the young activist.  She  said in return : "I am very happy to be in Argentina and especially in Rosario, the city where Che Guevara was born, a hero for us."

Tawakkol Karman  is the first Yemeni, the first Arab woman, and the second Muslim woman to win a Nobel Prize and the second youngest Nobel Peace Laureate to date.
 She is a great inspiration for many people around the world. 

 Last month she visited Doha .
