MIA Park Bazaar reopens on 18 January 2019

Good news for everyone who likes the park bazaar - it will be open again on the weekends until mid- April .
I come here for the relaxed atmosphere - home made dishes - art and craft - second hand books and more .
It is closed during the hot season but reopens usually in mid - October . Last October it was very rainy so it did not open . In spite of November weather being nice here the Bazaar did not reopen .No explanations . It is fine to hear that it comes back to the city .

good news and bad news for the sweet-tooth in Qatar

Good  News ; a  French chocolatier just opened his shop in the Gate Mall . L’Atelier du Chocolat  is the brand 's name .It is a famous brand has been in the market for 60 years  which belongs to Serge Andrieu . This is the first outlet in  the MIddle East . Some claim that you won't be able to walk away without  buying from their chocolates  Unlike other chocolate boutiques  they offer free tasting !  Risky visit if you want to loose weight ! Especially if you are the one who prefers the dark chocolates to over sweetened ones .

Bad news ;  no more home made cookies /cakes or chocolates at  the MIA  monthly park bazaar . Every kind of food was banned .Qatar has  very strict food safety  regulations - they said as explanation .I  understand it from one point of view . During hours  dairy products /  dishes with meat are there in hot pots -only few vendors used  frozen bags . But they should enforce   this usage /  about cookies and other items which  do not need a fridge - I  do not see their point of view ...

MIA Park Bazaar on the 1st of February

The coming Saturday  it will be the time for the monthly Park Bazaar . You will find this time  tote bags and cushions made from recycled materials at the stall of the Orientalist Museum . It is part of a project called in Arabic Afrehom = make them happy .The income will be used for charity .

The MIA park is a fun place anyway but with the stalls  /handicraft /art and ethnic it  is  even more exciting .Do not miss it .It will be on only twice before the hot season !

The usual Park bazaar in December - review

One month ago we were suffering by the heat when visiting the bazaar . This month it was already much colder and very windy . A sweater was not exaggeration after sunset ... Some of the stalls were turned over by a heavy gust of wind .

We found a  good number of sellers and contrary to our expectation it was not full of Xmas related items . If I had arrived with  a lots of money I would have certainly bought some African batik textile /Indian carved chess set / a book from Gillespie about Qatar  and more Italian dishes from the stall of that lady . I learned a very important thing . Pizza frita or something  is just like our Hungarian langos . That fried flat bread that is so much loved in Hungary . I have always thought that it was a Hungarian recipe . Now I am not sure at all .

MIA Park Bazaar in November -review

It was not very big event . In April  I saw so many tables selling crafts but on Saturday it was less big .I saw beautiful South-African textiles ,Pakistani embroidered bed spreads ,second hand books , fancy postcards and other art and crafts on display .The most shocking thing was to see old Hungarian postage stamps and old electric devices on sale . We are in Qatar and the ticket is minimum one thousand dollar from Budapest .A Hungarian speaking man was selling those things claiming that he just came right from Budapest's famous flea-market the Ecseri .

The Italian women's cakes and desserts were also memorable .

I hope to be able to visit next month when the weather expected to be nicer  .

the last day of the park bazaar

It was the last day of the MIA park bazaar on Saturday before the hot season .It was a windy day and I had thought that it might have been called off but it did not happen so .Though there were some empty tables but there were a lots of artists : I saw origami ,paintings ,handmade jewelry ,fancy shaped soaps and a lots of people selling not original art but handmade products from their countries /simply homemade food or even secondhand books and clothes .It seemed that the organizers let it to be an attractive community event where people get together and sell what they have whether it is art or not .
It is free ! So every craft men and women should be ready  for the next art bazaar in November !

I liked Sue Akers  handmade jewelry very much .She was wise enough to have her business cards ready on her table .This way I managed to show my readers her page .Think about having your own business cards .
