 This docile type of shark loves   warm waters .  It comes to the area to eat fish eggs .  In 2011, more than 400 whale sharks gathered off the Yucatan Coast. It was one of the largest gatherings of whale sharks ever recorded . This video claims that by drones more than 600 of them  has been recorded recently near  Qatar's  shores . A new world record !

PINK MONTH IN Qatar - and my memories of fellow women

 

  Breast cancer awarness month in Qatar .  Why is it important to remember about this ? Though breast cancer is not as high in Arabic countries as in the USA - it is still killing women here too . Early detection and treatment can save 80 -90 % of those patients lives .

MY MEMORIES

I remember about 30 years ago my best friend's mom fell with the bike then she felt something painful in her armpit . She went to see the doctor at once and it turned out that it had been breast cancer growing silently for a while . That fall was her luck because it helped the early discovery of the lump . She got the necessary treatments and she has been a survivor for more than 30 years now . Another story back then was the case of a very well educated woman . She was rejected by her husband even before her cancer . He left her for a younger woman . She just loved him too much and wished to gain his love again . When it turned out that she has breast cancer she refused the surgery for fear of losing that man forever .She died soon after and left behind two kids who were brought up by the grandma . Very sad story . But not uncommon that women choose the get no treatment for the fear of loosing a man . Dying rather than living without breast . When common sense does not work .When education does not help . Then there is a dire need of psychologist's help .

17 doctors blacklisted for forged certificates in Qatar

 So far in the current year 17 doctors with fake papers had applied for licences

to practise  in Qatar  .Their nationality was not mentioned by the MoPH . Qatar is

an attractive place for expat healthcare professionals because the salary and working

conditions are nice . Qatar ranks very high at the quality of the healthcare in the world .

Library visit rules - September 2020

 

 What you are allowed and what you are not

   You can visit the Library -  but by appointment only !

                                               but only if you are older than 13 and younger than 60

                                               but only in case you are not pregnant 

  You can borrow books -  but  only in case you had requested  the books

                                            two working days before your booked visit

                                            no one will be allowed to the shelves !

 You can go with friends - but no more than ten people in a group allowed .

 You can eat and drink in the Library - there is an open cafe  and vending machines

                                                                 are also working

  Things that I do not understand : 1 . why we are not allowed to the shelves when in the supermarkets we can touch a product ?

                                                         2 . why we are not allowed to book by phone ?

                                                         3 . why a large part of the Library is closed? This way  the visitors will be more concentrated  in the central hall .
