World Horse Day on July 11 - by the UN
The UN in Geneva is celebrating World Horse Day on July 11. This day was created by the UN in June 2025. They want to remind us how horses have helped people for a long time – in farming, transport, work, and even therapy. Today, horses and other working donkeys and mules still support the lives of about 600 million people around the world. But they face problems like hot weather caused by climate change. The UN asks us to protect these animals. The post includes a picture of a horse with the words "Honoring a Timeless Partner" and the UN logo. The campaign is also linked to the FAO and other UN groups that promote good farming, fair pay for rural people, and better care for working animals. 🐴🌾
Few animals have contributed to human progress as profoundly — and quietly — as the horse.#WorldHorseDay is a call to protect one of humanity’s oldest partnerships, which still helps feed us, support our economies, and lift our spirits.https://t.co/UHkrmlLZxT pic.twitter.com/A5Vw4jNmyY

Fishing and Fun Boats Must Stop Now - Minsitry of Transport of Qatar
For public safety, owners and users of maritime vessels, including leisure boats, fishing boats, jet skis, and all other maritime vessels, are advised to temporarily suspend sailing and all forms of maritime activities, as of the date of this announcement and until further notice pic.twitter.com/oIAKlAyaAa
— Ministry of Transport 🇶🇦 وزارة المواصلات (@MOTQatar) July 12, 2026
The government of Qatar has told all small boat owners to stop using their boats right now. This includes fishing boats, jet skis, and any boats used for fun or personal trips.
This rule started on July 12, 2026. It is for safety reasons. No one knows when it will end.
Big ships that follow international safety rules can still sail.
The government is working with security teams on this decision.
A similar stop happened at the end of June 2026.
Right now, there are some tensions in the area between the US and Iran, which affects safety in the Gulf.

Qatar's former Emir- Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani died
Al Jazeera English has reported the passing of Qatar's former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the age of 74. The news segment outlines the defining moments of his leadership: he came to power in 1995, drove the expansion of Qatar's liquefied natural gas industry, founded the Al Jazeera media network, introduced the nation's first permanent constitution in 2004, and successfully secured the bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He voluntarily stepped down in 2013, handing over authority to his son, Sheikh Tamim. Remembered as the "Father Emir," his death has drawn official expressions of grief and serves as a moment to reflect on his enduring legacy—modernizing Qatar and positioning it as a significant force in global economics and diplomacy.
