🔥 Record Heat Hits Al Ain While Doha Stays Cooler at 42°C ☀️🌴

 

While the ancient oasis town of Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates was boiling over with a record-breaking 🔥 51.6°C on Saturday, 🌆 Doha managed to keep its cool — relatively speaking — at 🌡️ 42°C.

🌴 Al Ain, famous for its lush palm groves and rugged 🏞️ Hajar Mountains, is typically a place to escape the heat. Locals often head for the hills to cool down in higher altitudes like Jebel Hafeet. But this kind of scorching temperature is out of the ordinary for May — a real wake-up call for what summer may bring.

Meanwhile, in Doha, though the mercury rose, the heat didn’t quite hit the roof. The 9-degree difference between the two cities shows how heatwaves can strike differently across the region, even within the same desert climate.

Yesterday rain in Qatar

 Qatar experienced light to moderate showers 🌧️ with brief thundery bursts ⚡ that refreshed the typically dry climate. The day showcased beautiful, spring-like weather in Doha 🌸 with temperatures between 16°C and 18°C 🌡️, while coastal areas faced strong winds 🌬️ and high waves 🌊. Although the rain was welcome, it hasn’t rained much recently, making this rare drizzle a cherished treat.

Qatar Open tennis match, play was briefly halted in the opening set as a light shower hit the court 🎾🌧️. Additionally, various outdoor community events and sports practices were momentarily delayed, showing that even in typically dry Qatar, unexpected rain can temporarily disrupt planned activities ⏱️🌦️.

Qatar’s climate is extremely dry, with rain mostly confined to the winter months. In Doha, for example, you can expect roughly 9–10 days of measurable rainfall (using a 1 mm threshold) per year, resulting in an annual total of about 70–75 mm.

Picnic season kicks off in Qatar

The weather in Doha is cooling down  - it means that it is somewhere between 30-40 C .Even some light rain might happen today -according to the meteorologists . It is the beginning of the picnic season .I like it . So many families are getting out for a meal with their hot-pots and thermoses .
Even five star hotels offer picnic on the grass .
I love the breakfasts the most outside .Almost no people at 7 am - like we have our own park :)
