Reading their FB page I was shocked to read that the Ladies Only Day no longer exists in Aquapark Qatar . It was always full - it was a real fun day for so many ! What makes the management to decide like that ? 😠😠😠

Numbers about Qatar - 32 thousand tourists

More than 32 thousand Qatari tourists visited Turkey last year . That is nearly 10 % of the Qatari population ! In spite of the security concerns  - the number of visitors is growing . Turkey saw the opportunity in the "halal" tourism  -  they have some hotels , resorts where women and men can enjoy the sea on segregated beaches /pools . These are also dry hotels ( no alcohol ) and are serving food suitable for Muslims .
Reading reviews on the net I find Turkish hospitality industry excellent ,generous , well -organised .From non-Muslims and Muslims as well - I read the same . If only the political situation was more balanced ! 2016 was especially bloody year  with the attack of the Istanbul airport& the Istanbul night club attack at New Year's Eve . New Indian Schools to Open next year

Qatar has a large Indian expat community .The parents prefer sending their kids to Indian schools . School seats for the Indian children living in Qatar are simply not enough . MES is one of the largest school .It has currently 8000 students when the its buildings were designed for  5000 students  only -  the same goes for Ideal Indian School with 6000 students instead of 2800  .

 New Indian schools are needed very much .An official of the Education ministry promised new Indian Schools for 2017/18 year . But no more details about them .
As the Indian School Year starts traditionally not in September but in April  - it looks like that many Indian kids  in Qatar will be out of  formal education .

No wonder that online schools are advertising themselves intensely  at social pages nowadays . Home schooling is not unknown for Qatar expat community ,  either .

Free fitness classes for International Women's Day

Black Pepper restaurant - review

  It is a fine dinning Indian restaurant located at Bin Mahmoud road . It has very strange location  as  this street is rather famous for the cheap eateries   than  for the  haute cuisine .

 We tried the  take away service .  It was easy to order   - the person who took the  order was very happy to serve us , was courteous  and his English was easy to understand . If you order food often in Doha  - like me -  then you must know this is not always the case here!

 We like the Zaoq restaurant - North Indian style dishes . But it is far   - so we were happy to explore this place . We ordered a Rogan Josh - it was explained on the  menu what to expect : " Classic boneless cubes of lamb in brown onion curry "   We were very much pleased with it . It was 55 rials and  a naan was 7 .

  Reading the reviews I see that everyone is happy with this place   and they mention  the friendly staff , the nice atmosphere , the real Mughal taste .

CHI -Shaqab -visiting with a kid - my experience

This was not the first time we visited this international horse riding competition with children . We had nice memories about the entertainment for kids and the modern facility .

This time we were truly disappointed by the Kids Zone activities . As we entered we had to pay QAR50 - and we were told that it includes everything . There were two stages for kids entertainment - we came on Friday afternoon and stayed until the evening but we saw no one performance there . Only kids were jumping around .

It seemed that we had to pay for many things : keeping the falcon for 10 seconds for a photo was 5 rials , Qatari food 5 -10 rials , pony riding - oh no at that place my kid gave up seeing the long line - bouncy castles - yes  it will be real fun  and it would have been free if it  hadn't deflated just as we arrived - the air was leaking and it went totally down -luckily no one was hurt but I heard at that time " Mom let's go home - there is nothing fun to do here " it seemed that it was not our lucky day there .

I managed to persuade him to go to the main building and check out the competition /the buffet and the modern facility .Oh Gosh ! We were not allowed to enter because "it was full" . We were forced to sit at the other side of the arena . The competition was nice and we were and even able to see the practicing riders from really close . But we missed all the modern facility !

Going home by taxi was very difficult . Such a big international event and there was no any kind of public transport arranged ! Not even a small taxi station or a waiting area in the parking !I tried to book taxi from there but the operator did not understand where we were .After one hour we found finally a free taxi . Our feet were aching .

I do not think I will visit this place in the near future again with kids . That is sad because it used to be my children's favorite in Qatar . Perhaps smaller kids enjoyed it more  - I saw little children with beautifully painted face and henna . and riding  the pony happily .But they did not have much thing for a preteen .  And I think this is a serious problem in Qatar  when living with kids here -  preteens and teens just do not have many "fun things to do "  .
