PAUL'S CAFE

I was very disappointed when I found this cafe closed during Eid . Was there a mouse like at the Carrefour in summer ? I have not heard anything - just I saw with sadness that it was closed due to the municipalities order .
This restaurant cafe is so popular and not without merit .
The service is quick and nice .The decor is vintage style - rustic chairs arranged in casual manner. The cakes are tasty ,old fashioned calorie bombs .
When we asked for a kid's meal -first we were given some tasty bread and butter and tapenade .Then came the chicken sandwich which was described as small in the menu - but actually it was large enough for three kids . The ice cream was OK . The cappuccino was a real ,continental hot drink , not a bucket -but a reasonable cup comme il faut .
When sitting at this cafe I got the surrealistic feeling that I just arrived to South France to visit my non-existing French aunt -and this fictive ambiance made me feel so good ..

HUngarian Food industry is represented solely in Qatar by some kind of hard cheese .
It is called Hajdu cheese .Lately they came out with some new version : smoked one ,with herbs , with chili flavour .They are quite good and affordable ones .
I discovered also BIHAR cheese . It is something similar to Hajdu .BIHAR is the name of a county in Hungary. The same name goes for a state in India . These are the mysteries about us ,Hungarians and our origins ...
I was shocked to discover that the Slovaks came out with a copy of Hajdu .It is called :Hajji .Even they use our tricolor for the design .

All in all I wish there were more Hungarian food products here .When buying food here - only i understand how great is our food at home and how lucky we are to have them there .
I miss the paprika of Kalocsa , tasty fruitful jams of Nagykoros , the white cheese with no flavour (turo) .The frozen dumplings with plum , the chestnut puree .
I do not list Pick salami here because unfortunately it has not got "halal" version .

Things that I hate in Qatar :

traffic jams
difficulties to find taxis /last week we had to wait 30-40 minutes for a taxi in the morning after visiting a clinic in Rumeila/
buses are jammed with labourers so no way for a family to get on them/ interestingly , we have family days here in supermarkets ,exhibitions etc , but it does not come to the mind of Qatari planners to establish buses for families as well to treat the traffic problems in Qatar /
too many males , females are in minority
no way to ride my bike to get from one place to the other / in my country it is the normal way of getting from one place to the other ,there are many paths for riders only . here it is the way of transport for some poor Indian males- and it seems very dangerous/
no way for walking - as there are not enough zebra crossings and sidewalks
censorship on my art gallery / though I do not display nudes or similar things/
censorod cartoons / Piglet in some books/
my favourite pizza restaurants homepage is banned / whyyyyy? I used to visit it when I was homesick , when a day I was shocked to see that it was banned/
too much food products made in usa
no hungarian paprika at all/ we must make do with some french or spanish paprika/
no free education for non-qatari kids / and the level of teaching is much to be desired /
any extra activities for kids is terribly expensive / karate lessons for a month about100 dollars - in our little town it is about50 dollars for a year /
ooooh I would be able to list for you soooo many things but it is enough for today, is not it ?
