The worst storm to hit the UK in 30 years, Storm Eunice, meant it caused chaos amongst the country's travel and transport network. One of the most affected areas was London and therefore the busiest airport in the country, London Heathrow Airport was massive affected too. The airport sees all of the largest jets from most of the major airlines around the world, including this Airbus A380 from Qatar Airways.
The pilots decided the first two approaches were unstable and performed a perfectly safe and practiced manoeuvre known as a go around. This is where the aircraft climbs back up to a safer altitude and fly back around for another attempt at a landing. On the third attempt, it was able to land safely after what was nearly an hour after it first tried to get in.

What started to be a cheerful day for a cyclist on the National Sport Day turned into a tragedy . A reckless driver lost control over his car and crashed into a bike convoy .Which was really worrisome is that it was a convoy with safety features . It could be very well seen .
The victim was a Nepali cyclist. The car's driver's nationality was not revealed .

It is the coldest time of the year in Doha . The lowest for this weekend is 13 C degree . Time to have some hot soups ! My reccommendation of hot soups from various places in Doha .
Number one - I have just discovered this one a week ago when I longed for a home made style broth . The Ramen Bowl from the restaurant called The Bowl was exactly what I wanted : the base was home made bone broth with some soba noodles , shiitake mushrooms , vegetables , seaweed etc , healing spices . I was half recovered after I had it . They also offer Pho Bowl . I might try it next time when in need of some healing soup . It was rather expensive - QR 50 ...
Lulu hypermarket offers excellent soup in takeaway cups . Only five rials per cup! I am a fan of their hot and sour soup and the chicken manjurian broth . Serving can be slow though the big masses have not discover yet this gem .
Beef dumpling soup from the Afrasiyab , the Uzbek restaurant .I had it once some times ago . It was nice . It is around thirty rials . They also offer lamb soup cooked in clay pot . That sounds exciting ! I might try it in the future .
For seafood soup I would recommend the Red Lobster restaurant but they dissapeared from Qatar . At least I can not find them . The Harbour restaurant used to have nice seafood soups as well but I do not know about their quality nowadays . I met Korean food lovers who are raving about the Tofu house 's Korean soups. They are too spicy to my taste . There was a time when Little Yehaw restaurant used to offer clear soup with dumplings - which was excellent . Doha is changing and many places even international brands vanish . Some French cafes offer soup du jour - they are OK but not that big deal .
I really like it in Doha . In the last two years the delivery service improved a lot . Thanks for the drivers who are serving us in cold and hot weather .
Doha News reported a murder at a compound in Doha . It was at Al Waab area . Somebody's ego was so much boosted that he shot two security guards at the compound 's gate . "Their sin" was - they denied his entry wihtout ID . The guards just did their job -I assume .
One guard survived ,the other did not .
The gun was illegal . The shooter was caught .
Doha is safe but not perfect . Murders happen here too from time to time .
The last ones happened perhaps one year ago . It was a former employee of a certain company who felt so frustrated over his lost job that he had returned to his office and randomly killed two people he found there .

There are so many things to do these days in Qatar. Now begins the season of mild weather; as a result, there are plenty of outdoor activities. The FIFA Arab Cup is an ongoing event that brought a lot of foreign visitors, some even coming from cruise ships. It is pleasant to see tourists in the city after the long break.
If you are not a soccer person, you can still find various activities in Qatar. As an example, you can wander around the city by Doha Metro. It is a very convenient, modern way to explore the various neighborhoods across the country.
If you just can't give up your car, there is a drive-in cinema event at Lusail. If you enjoy the sight of Monster Trucks, you may admire them at Lusail Arena.
Are you a fan of aviation? Hot air balloons? Nostalgic scenes attract people to Aspire Zone for the ten-day event starting today, " Qatar Balloon Festival 2021".
If traditional marine events interest you, consider Katara Beach to see the Dhow festival.
In the Southern Building Squares of Katara, an art and crafts fair is being held. Artisans from fifteen Arab countries are selling their merchandise.
All this along with many other entertainments: modern art exhibitions, Doha Film Insitute exhibitions, Dior exhibition, Football Art exhibitions, old car exhibitions, the list goes on and on.
But the Food Festival is a must! You will find many cuisines, prices ranging enough to cater to anyone. There are plenty of seats as well. Just enjoy the nice weather, the talking crowds, and the free events. Fireworks are to be expected around 9 pm Friday and Saturday.
I can't mention all the activities; I have festivals to visit! I think I'll be exhausted by the end of next week.

For the green future of Qatar - 18 metre tall live trees were bought from Malaysia .Three thousand six hundred . They arrived on a special ship . It might take months to see if the trees will be able to develop a new root systems in the soil of the country .
