The Bank manager who cooked the books

The name of the bank was not mentioned . Nor the nationality of the  bank manager .He stole QR132,000  and he was sentenced to five years prison and  no more banking here .
I am shocked . Just like when a half year ago a famous  car's  showroom  was caught selling used cars
as new ones . They were  forced to close then . I guess the bank  can operate  that is why their name is not mentioned.
Usually banks offer nice salary  - I guess . Then this amount was ridiculously small  to risk prison .  It seems to me that this guy in question was not only dishonest but very stupid as well .

Crime and punishment in Qatar - Did the abusive husband throw his wife from the balcony

It is not clear what nationality was the poor abused woman .They must have been Arabs as the  Sharq  daily paper reported first the case .
The story is tragic  -  there was an abusive  husband ,a drug addict who beats his wife up often . One day after the usual violence the woman was found  lying on the grass . Did she kill herself or  her abusive husband threw her out of their balcony ?
The court did not find any evidence proving that he was the  killer . Plus the couple 's little son claimed he saw his mom throwing herself from the balcony of their fourth floor .
The court acquitted the husband .

life sentence for trading amphetamine pills

Three persons were sentenced for possessing and trying to trade amphetamine pills in Doha .One of them got life sentence the others 15 and 10 years .They possessed more than 201,000 amphetamine pills .
Their nationality was not mentioned but we can guess that they were expats as the court talks about their deportations after the prison terms ...Yet, there is one thing I do not understand ... how can someone be deported when he got life sentence ?
What life does sentence mean in Qatar ?

A spy case in Qatar

A spy case in Qatar

A Philippine man was sentenced to death and two others for life imprisonment according to local daily papers .
He had passed important information to his government .He had access to sensitive information about the army , weapons , and their maintenance . He had been working here since 1993 and got himself involved with spying around 2009 .
The government in the Philippines denies the charges claiming that they have cordial relations with Qatar and no reason for spying .
Many Qatari were shocked when learned that such important positions are given to expats .
I remember a similar case 12 years ago . Then a Jordanian young man was sentenced to death then pardonned by the Emir of Qatar .

Gang rape in Qatar by Indians

I just read about the missing 60 million women in India . They were the ones who were killed as fetus or new born or just neglected to death .Besides  that it is a disgusting mass killing  India now has a great shortage of women . Tens of millions of men are without hope of marrying ever .Especially those who are badly trained or not at all /poor young guys .There are more and more gang rapes in India and this will only increase .

Now , we believed that this type crime will remain in India . But we had to  wake up when we learnt about this rape case on the  10 August 2013 in Doha . A poor maid was at home  when some men was ringing the door  acting as they were detectives . She believed them and let them in just to be raped by them .

Now they are caught and will be jailed I hope . But  will this be enough to deter the others ? Can we keep the misery of the subcontinent out of the borders while masses of poor Indian males are allowed to enter ?

We must be vigilant however . It seems that those attackers are more and more tricky and blackguardly .
We can not be prepared for everything  but keep some rules 1 . keep an eye on your kids / do not leave them unattended  nor home /in the yard /shopping mall  2 . do not open the door to anyone whom you do not know - rather let  the person be hurt rather you look unkind than feel sorry after  3 . when you enter your car again left in the parking lot peep into it -as there were cases elsewhere in the world when  the rapist could enter the car and was hiding until the female driver  got into the car ... the same goes for your home ...if you expect the flat to be empty  but there are signs of somebody is in -even if it is just a bad feeling - do not enter ....

This murder at New Salata really astonished me .This is something one really does not expect to happen when living in Qatar . Being murdered by an iron rod by some merciless burglar is simply not typical here .It is even sadder that the victim was an old lady -a local one who was over 82 and whose maid was also brutally beaten up .
My sincere sympathy to the family of the victim .
