When I see this post by the United Nations for International Rural Women's Day, my heart turns with profound respect to my grandmother in the village—a woman whose quiet strength and tireless devotion shaped my fondest memories.

Her hands, weathered by decades of labor, prepared feasts that made our holidays truly unforgettable: homemade jams, rich syrups, savory sausages, delicate duck livers, and golden dripping—each bite a testament to her love and craftsmanship.

Her discipline was unwavering, her work ethic boundless. She labored with grace until the final week of her life, departing this world at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and self-sacrifice.

To her, and to the countless rural women around the world who toil unseen and give without measure—I offer my deepest admiration and gratitude. You are the quiet pillars upon which generations are built.

 

October 10 - dark day in civil avaiation - attack on Riyadh international airport

The number of casualties, the number of injured... the pointless attacks... the kidnapped democracy of Yemen... the dead passengers and pilot.

It is difficult to understand why things are going in this direction. Why was there no warning and no sheltering of passengers and crew? Why could it be repeated three consecutive days? Why was the airport not closed after the first attack?

Opened in 2022 and LEED Gold certified, the garden holds over 300 trees and 25,000 plants from sustainable sources, uses natural daylight through a grid shell roof, and consumes 30% less energy and 55% less water than standard designs. A video shows the koi swimming among rocks and greenery, inviting transit passengers to relax and connect with nature in this airport oasis combining shopping, dining, and calm.

Heavy rain in Mecca - September 13

 On September 13, 2026, Al Jazeera English shared footage of intense rain and thunderstorms soaking the Kaaba and the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Worshippers in ihram continued praying and performing tawaf despite the downpour. Saudi authorities issued flood warnings, advising residents and visitors to stay away from valleys and low-lying areas, as thunderstorms were forecast to affect Makkah and surrounding regions through mid-September. NEW - fast money-transfer service to India

 

Qatar Post has teamed up with India Post to introduce a fast money-transfer service to India, unveiled on India's Independence Day, August 15, 2026. The PosTransfer system uses UPI to send funds directly to recipients' UPI-linked bank accounts in local currency. Transfers range from QAR 10 to 4,000 (about ₹1 lakh maximum) and cost a flat QAR 15 per transaction. To use it, the sender provides a Qatar ID and the recipient's UPI ID, while the receiver must enable foreign inward remittances in their UPI app. Transfers clear in just minutes, giving the large Indian expatriate population in Qatar a fresh, reliable way to send money home via postal services.
