Iraq's 5,000-year-old architecture offers lessons in environmentally responsible design and construction.A mudhif is an Iraqi swamp house. These traditional dwellings are built from reeds and a bamboo-like grass called qasab .The same steps have been used to build mudhifs for thousands of years. No nails, metal, or glass used. The mudhif is completely natural and was made from things found in the swamp.
