Great News! We're reopening the Children's Library, too. Starting 25 July, we're delighted to welcome families back to our Children's Library with two time slots! Visits to the Library in general are currently by appointment only. We are open from Saturday to Thursday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM; the Library is closed on Fridays. For everyone's safety, everyone over age 12 must wear a mask at all times. The Young Adults' Area will also be accessible from 1 August. Looking forward to welcoming you at the Library!

Reopening Measures

Visits will continue by appointment only. Only 300 people will be allowed in the building during each time slot (8:00 to 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and 3:30 to 8:00 PM), from Saturday to Thursday. The Library will be closed on Fridays. To check out books, you must submit a hold request in advance, as the shelving tiers are closed. Librarians will prepare the books for you to pick up.  Only patrons with a green status on the Ehteraz app will be allowed access. Your temperature will also be checked at entry. You are required to wear a face mask at all times. People over the age of 60 will be allowed into the Library only if they have the gold frame on their Ehteraz app. DVDs, CDs, iPads, headphones, chargers or other items will not be available. Observe social distancing guidelines at all times. Social gatherings of more than 5 people are strictly not allowed in the Library and will be monitored by our security. Individual study carrels and computer stations are open and may be used on a first-come, first-use basis, with only one user inside each study carrel. Patrons can return the items manually at the bins installed at the main entrance of the Library anytime without the need of any appointment, or at the User Services Desk (with an appointment in this case, to be allowed into the building). Photocopying and printing machines are available to users who already have their own printing cards. The Library will not sell printing cards at this time. The Children’s Library is re-opening on 25 July with two time slots, 8:00 – 10:00 and 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM. The Young Adults' Area will also be accessible from 1 August. For everyone's safety, everyone over age 12 must wear a mask at all times.

Numbers in Qatar - 90 thousand baby Hamour released

 The Gulf Cooperation Council keeps fishery records on the fish caught in their territorial waters. Of the estimated 540 species of fish in the Persian Gulf,^[2] 11 different species are commonly referred to as Hamour. In records kept by the state of Qatar, there is a clear indication that the amount of "Hamour" being caught is rapidly declining, and has dropped sharply since 2008. The decline of the culturally important and prized hamour fish prompted Qatar to start a program to farm the fish species, focusing on the most highly valued Epinephelus coioides. Yet the same states keep record on a "Hamour Group", roughly relating to the catch-all phrase "Grouper". This includes the Brown spotted reef cod, known in the Persian Gulf states as "Souman", but also as "Hammour".^[

Updated travel policy to Qatar - family visitors and tourists allowed

  This is a  big change  !  Last year  at this time  even  residents of Qatar needed special permission to return .

 It was a great problem .  I knew a mother  who visiting  her ill mom in Hungary   could not return  months though she had a   five  year  old  in Qatar  desperately in need of her  mom ,

  Hearing  about  her case  I gave   up  the plan to  visit my own  seriously ill mom ,  That was the darkest thing in  Covid -19 in Qatar .    But I had my own kids in need of  me .    My mother  passed away  and  we could not  even say good-bye . Even my siblings living in the same town   with her ,  There was a lockdown  and simply nobody  was allowed  to visit  her .

 No one should  consider  things like that  You or ill mom or  your kids !

 Let's hope  that  those dark times won't return .   For   that  we should fully  understand  what really  happened  in the world .

 Returning  is still  complicated .  Depending if you are vaccinated or not  - you are coming  from green list  country  or not . You might need  home quarantine or hotel  quarantine ,

 There is a chart  on the  home page of the  Ministry of Public Health  . It will explain  the conditions under  that you  can  come  to Qatar .
